Greenwich Country Day School is committed to offering the highest quality healthcare by certified athletic trainers (ATC) and our partnership with Hospital for Special Surgery to ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes.

OD平台 Partnership with Hospital for Special Surgery
OD平台 works closely with the Hospital for Special Surgery to provide high quality preventative, surgical, rehabilitative, and performance services to OD平台 athletes. This partnership with HSS enables OD平台 to benefit from one of the global leaders in sports medicine. HSS, the nation’s top-ranked hospital for orthopedics for the past ten consecutive years (U.S. News & World Report 2019-2020), is the official hospital for numerous professional sports teams including the New York Giants, New York Mets, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, US Rowing, and USA Basketball.
OD平台 also collaborates with HSS to offer informational workshops and presentations for students, parents, and coaches on key topics related to health and wellness such as nutrition, stress management, and injury prevention and recovery.
Concussion Prevention and Treatment
The certified athletic trainer (ATC) at OD平台 can diagnose and treat a concussion. When a concussion is diagnosed by the ATC, the student must have a follow-up appointment with a physician. Head injuries sustained outside of school should be brought to the attention of the ATC. Once a physician sees an athlete, a note of clearance is required before return to activity. After clearance has been reached, a gradual return-to-play protocol will be followed. The Athletic Trainer makes the final call on all return-to-play decisions.
